The Ortho Molecular Answer

Shingles (Herpes Zoster)

It is believed that Shingles is caused by the same virus as Chicken Pox.

Symptoms of an outbreak include pain on one side of the body accompanied by tingling or burning sensations.  The skin will begin to redden and blisters will appear.

Once diagnosed with Shingles, it can be treated and cleared with large doses of vitamin C.

Vitamin C inactivates the virus that causes shingles because of its anti-viral and anti-toxin properties.

It is believed that shingles may develop during periods of stress because blood serum levels of vitamin c drop at this time allowing shingles to develop.

Preservatives and toxins should be avoided for general health.

This program must be customised by your Ortho Molecular therapist.

  • In the morning take 3,000 mg of vitamin C every 30 minutes until you experience loose stool (not diarrhea)
  • If you do not have loose stool within 15 hours, increase the dosage to 4,000 mg of vitamin C every 30 minutes
  • Once you have experienced loose stool, reduce the dosage to 2,000 mg every hour.
  • You will be able to identify what the correct dosage is for your body when symptoms of shingles are relieved without causing loose stool.

  • For severe cases you may require vitamin C intravenously in order to achieve a high enough dose.  This may be prescribed by your doctor.
